Frolic in TPC’s new playground
Venue: Tanjong Pagar Centre, Urban Park Level 1
Looking to romp with the little ones? You should definitely check out the new playground installation at TPC’s Urban Park. Tanjong Pagar Centre’s philosophy of place-making and creating communal spaces comes together in a fun and exciting play area for children and parents alike.
Designed by Japanese educator Daiya Aida and commissioned by The Artground, the space fuses art aesthetics with the joys of play, making it a great space to experience some quality time with the entire family.
The installations at the playground include Wave Structure, Climbing Dome, Big Slide, Mini Platform and Mini Tunnel. These play areas encourage children to develop their motor skills, sense of creativity and self-discovery.
Numerous scientific studies have shown that play and physical activities are crucial for children, helping them to develop their creativity, problem-solving and both cognitive and physical strength.
Adults benefit from playing with their kids as well; an energetic play session releases endorphins in our bodies, which help to promote a greater sense of well-being and to relieve stress.
Grab a free lunch for your kids at IPPUDO
Venue: IPPUDO, #01-15
A globally beloved brand that serves up oodles of delicious noodles and other tantalising Japanese dishes, IPPUDO has been described as ‘the most famous tonkotsu ramen shop in Japan’ (and for good reason!).
The restaurant chain has been in business for over 3 decades, dishing out its signature Shiromaru Motoaji ramen—which comes with juicy pork belly and pork loin— as well as a whole range of Japanese staples, from gyoza to beef tataki.
As part of their ongoing promotion, IPPUDO is offering a hearty free meal for children aged 12 and below. Drop by between 11am to 10pm on the weekend, and order a piping hot bowl of ramen: Your kid will enjoy a free set meal with your order, which includes a kid-sized portion of IPPUDO’s original Tonkotsu ramen, Japanese onigiri (riceball) and potato salad with mixed vegetables.
Indulge in dessert for the entire family at Hattendo
Venue: Hattendo Cafe, #01-05
Random factoid: ‘Stressed’ is ‘desserts’ spelt backwards.
If your family has a collective sweet tooth, be sure to drop by Hattendo to sample their signature soft cream buns. Founded in 1933, Hattendo has grown from its humble origins as a confectionary shop in Mihara, Japan to become a brand with outlets in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines and Singapore.
The sheer diversity of cream buns on offer here may make it a little difficult to choose the flavour you’d like to sample. As such, we’ve asked the good folk at Hattendo for recommendations on their most popular flavours. Check out their suggestions below:
Popular with kids: Chocolate
Popular with young couples: Cream, custard
Popular with seniors: Adzuki (red bean)
